IT’S A MESMERIZING STATEMENT that you come across in mysticism and spiritual circles. But what does it mean that nothing is ‘real’? And why does seeing this for ourselves remain elusive?
One way to understand this is in the context of what the fourth way calls the ‘Ray of Creation’ which is a model of the universe that includes different dimensions, or different ‘worlds’. In brief, higher worlds are lighter (more rarified in form) and faster (in speed of functioning). Lower worlds (which exist “inside’ higher ones) are heavier, denser, and slower.
In this model, the highest world in the universe is completely invisible and operating faster than even the speed of light, whereas the lowest world is denser than anything you can imagine and ‘moves’ so slowly as to seem forever solid and visible. Perhaps closest to us are the contrasting examples of minerals and sunlight. Whereas minerals are extremely dense and slow changing, you cannot see or touch sunlight. What you can see are reflections of light, but not light itself; even what you feel as heat is not the sun, but its effect on air molecules that ‘touch’ our skin. You never truly ‘see’ the sun in its world.
